The Vitra Fire Station, Hadid's first built work, stretches alongside the main street of the Vitra factory compound. The objective of the building is to provide the whole site with cohesion and rhythm by breaking into different planes that serve as walls. The walls appear to tilt and move. The ceiling is formed by another plane that seems to want to fly away. This project positioned Hadid as an architect able to capture movement in architecture.
