"Art for Humanity"

This panel discussion focuses on the relationship between the Pointillist or Divisionist style of art and the leftist politics of the Neo-Impressionists and Divisionists during the 1890s, a time dubbed the "decade of assassinations." Speakers include Giovanna Ginex, independent art historian, Ellen Lee, Indianapolis Museum of Art, and Mark Antliff, Professor of Art History, Duke University. Moderated by Vivien Greene, Guggenheim Museum.

In Paint and Film: Riso Amaro

Join Guggenheim curator Vivien Greene for a discussion in the galleries of Divisionism/Neo-Impressionism: Arcadia and Anarchy and a special film screening to follow. This program focuses on Angelo Morbelli's painting For Eighty Cents! and the film Riso Amaro (Bitter Rice, 1949, directed by Giuseppe De Santis, 107 min.), both of which feature women working rice fields in Piedmont, Italy.

Join us on an interactive family-friendly tour highlighting the Guggenheim's special summer exhibitions,The Shapes of Space and Divisionism/Neo-Impressionism: Arcadia and Anarchy. Tours focus on a different theme each Sunday and include engaging conversation, drawing, and readings from related books. For children ages 5–10 and their adult friends and family.
