 Venice 1948–1986: The Art Scene
February 5–May 21, 2006

Venice: The Art Scene presents fascinating images of the personalities and protagonists associated with Venice Biennales from 1948 to 1986: from Henri Matisse to Pablo Picasso; Alberto Giacometti to Lucio Fontana; Leo Castelli to Robert Rauschenberg. Originally produced for magazines such as Time, Life, and Epoca, these extraordinary images bear witness to the history of Venice and the events that shaped the art world in the postwar period. The exhibition features a selection of photographs from the 10,000 negatives acquired by the Archivio Arte Fondazione and is accompanied by a catalogue with nearly 1,000 images.
