Moving Pictures: Contemporary Photography and Video from the Guggenheim Museum Collections
October 7, 2003–May 12, 2004
Crackling oil paint, stately portraits, and bucolic landscapes generally come to mind when thinking of a permanent collection show—that is, unless you're talking about Moving Pictures. The glow of video monitors lights Bilbao's galleries for this exhibition of works in the reproducible mediums of film, video, and photography, most acquired in recent years. Works by such artists as Matthew Barney, Andreas Gursky, and Gabriel Orozco fall into intriguing categories like "Narrative Fantasy" and "The Constructed Image."
