Speaking with Hands: Photographs from the Buhl Collection
November 24, 2005 - March 26, 2006
Speaking with Hands: Photographs from the Buhl Collection, which was on view in summer 2004 at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, continues its tour in Bilbao. The exhibition brings together approximately 170 photographs by 150 artists, scientific photographers, and photojournalists, all devoted to a single subject: the human hand. Ranging from early-19th-century photographic experiments to contemporary, computer-manipulated images, these highlights from the Henry M. Buhl collection survey the history of photography and the medium’s vast expressive range.
